What is a Cumberland Presbyterian?
Cumberland Presbyterians have a "Goldilocks" theology--not too strait-laced, not too permissive, but just right!
Here are our beliefs:
We believe all Scriptures are the only infallible rule of faith and practice. 2 Timothy 3:16
We believe Christ died for all mankind and whosoever believes in Him will be saved. John 3:16
We believe in Eternal Security--once saved always saved. John 10:28
We practice open Communion. All Christians may partake of the Lord's Supper.
We practice sprinkling as our mode of baptism. However, we recognize all Christian Baptisms as valid baptisms. We emphasize the work of the Holy Spirit internally and recognize that baptism is only an outward visible sign of what must happen to a person's inner being.
Our church emphasises:
A heart-felt experience
A family devotional
Prayer
Bible Study
Meditation
An ever-present need to grow in grace
Members striving together to work with other Christians to carry out the mission Christ has called us to do. Matthew 28:18-20
